Looking for a friend? Welcome to our Pasture Pal Corral! Here you will find our wonderful horses who are not suitable for riding, but who will make great additions to your pasture and likely great companions for your current horses. We also offer these horses as foster pets.

Auburn

Appalossa Mare

As of 2024, Auburn is 32 years old and stands 14.3 H. She came to HAHS after her and her pasture companions' owner passed away. Auburn is a gentle chestnut Appaloosa mare who enjoys being brushed. She bonds easily with other horses and will make a fantastic pasture pal. Auburn is currently in foster care.

Bayo

Bay Mare

One of the Danville 11 mares, this older mare has been put out to pasture where she feels the most comfortable at this time. She will need owners that have lots of patience. Bayo, with a mind of her own, can be handled by someone with experience if necessary but prefers the company of other horses over humans. She is available for adoption to someone who understands and knows how to work with feral horses. Currently, Bayo is being pastured in Kentucky.

Candy

Westphalian Mare

As of 2024, Candy is 25 years old and stands 15.1 H. Candy is a dark bay Westphalian mare that came to HAHS through a large-scale ASPCA rescue. Candy has had some basic ground training, where she has learned to trust humans again. She is still a bit standoffish but has shown tremendous improvement, and HAHS has been using her in our programs that teach volunteers basic horse handling and care skills. She has shown a special interest in children and enjoys interacting with them at our children's events. She gets along well with mares and geldings. Candy is looking for an adopter who can spend time with her daily to gain her trust.

Cinn (Cinnamon)

Quarter Horse Mare

As of 2024 Cinnamon, also known as Cinn, is 26 years old and stands 15.2 H. She is a beautiful sorrel Quarter Horse mare who was rescued in Central Illinois before being picked up by HAHS. Cinn appears to be sweet-natured and smart, but has had limited handling and appears to have trust issues. Since coming to HAHS she has had training and is learning to trust people. With time and more training, she will make someone a great horse. She would do best with an experienced handler. Cinn is currently in foster care.

Rocky Mountain Gelding

As of 2024, Eddie is a 19-year-old registered Rocky Mountain horse. He is ready for a life of friendship, grooming, and treats. Eddie is gentle and easy to handle on the ground. He does well with mares and geldings. He loves attention and is especially fond of children. Eddie is currently in a foster home.

Lady

Paint Mare

As of 2024, Lady is 23 years old. She a registered sorrel overo paint mare with a unique and unbelievably beautiful pattern. Lady is a friendly mare who handles well. She does take a couple of minutes to halter because she would prefer to stay with her pasture mates. With a little bit of time, we think this behavior will change, and she will be easy to catch.

Paint Mare

As of 202, Maya is 19 years old. She is a beautiful registered sorrel overo paint mare with a friendly personality. Maya is always the first to greet you at the fence and soak up the attention. She is a stunning mare that enjoys the company of another horse but will happily go with anyone who offers her some scratches and love. She is easy to handle and will make someone and some horse a lovely companion. Maya is currently in a foster home.

Mistletoe

Hackney Type Welsh Gelding

As of 2024, Mistletoe is 26 years old and stands 12.1 H. Mistletoe is a chestnut Welsh pony gelding with a white stripe and a star snip in his forehead. He had extreme hoof overgrowth when he came to HAHS, but he recovered well. He looked so elf-like with those hooves that we called him Mistletoe. He has a club left foot and limited vision in his left eye. Mistletoe gets scared very quickly and would need an advanced handler/trainer to continue groundwork with him. Mistletoe is currently pastured in Kentucky.

Mosey

Paint Gelding

As of 2024, Mosey is 26 years old and stands 16 H. Mosey is a big, sweet paint gelding. Although Mosey is blind, he does well because he always trusts his handler. Mosey enjoys being groomed and grazing. He is a great pasture pal. Due to his age and health issues, Mosey is looking for Adopt-A-Hoof sponsors who can help him fulfill his ambassador duties as an advocate to end the abuse and neglect of hooved animals.

Sonny

As of 2024, Sonny is 18 years old and stands 15.1 H. Sonny is a flashy paint gelding who has recovered well from severe neglect. Sonny is sweet-natured and generally good to handle. Sonny has limited vision in his left eye, so you should speak to him when approaching from his left. He would make a great, easygoing pasture pal. Sonny is currently in foster care.

Bay Mare

As of 2024, Scarlet is 25 years old. She is a beautiful dark bay mare from the Danville 11 herd. Like the others HAHS took in, she is still very feral. Scarlet is available for adoption to someone who understands and knows how to work with feral horses. She is suited as a pasture pal only. She is currently pastured in Kentucky.

Sweet Potato

Appaloosa Mare

As of 2024, Sweet Potato is 15 years old. Sweet Potato is a friendly mare that was found running at large. She has a hind leg issue that prevents her from being ridden. Due to her past neglect, she experienced founder and needs to be kept in a dry lot. She loves grooming and attention.

Tanna

Grade Mare

As of 2024, Tanna is 28 years young. She is a gaited grade mare. You had better not tell Tanna she is 28 because she does not believe it. She is active and enjoys running and playing with her pasture mates. She has been pastured with mares and geldings. Tanna is broke to ride. We have her listed as a pasture pal because we would recommend light riding only. She came from an abuse and neglect situation where she was starved. She has gained weight nicely and is ready to find a forever home. She has some limited vision in one of her eyes due to glaucoma. Tanna can be shy until she gets to know you, so she is looking for someone to spend time with her and earn her trust. She handles well on the ground and under saddle.

As of 2024, Tuscon is 22 years old and stands 14.3 H. She came to us from a local animal control impoundment. She is curious about people, likes attention, and loves to be brushed by someone she trusts. She can be difficult for the farrier. Tucson is currently in foster care.
