About Darla

Darla is a 22-year-old grade sorrel mare, easily recognized by her striking blaze. She has never met a stranger and loves soaking up attention from visitors.

Darla came to HAHS from an abuse and neglect situation, arriving as a walking skeleton due to severe starvation. Thanks to our intensive rehabilitation program, she regained her health, strength, and spirit. Today, you’d never guess her rough past—she thrives as an ambassador, educating the public about horse care, basic horsemanship, and riding skills.

As an official HAHS Animal Ambassador, Darla is not available for adoption, but you can still make a difference in her life! She is looking for an Adopt-A-Hoof sponsor to support her ongoing care and help her continue spreading awareness about equine welfare. Your sponsorship ensures Darla can keep inspiring others while advocating for horses in need.

Interested in sponsoring Darla?

This animal is an Animal Ambassador at the Hooved Animal Humane Society. While they are not currently available for adoption, they appreciates your sponsorship. Sponsoring or 'virtually adopting' a hooved animal at HAHS helps provide the care they need while they fulfill their roles at the society. Your sponsorship contributes to veterinary care, farrier care, grain, hay, medications, supplements, and more
