Brass in the Barnyard—what an afternoon it was!

The Hooved Animal Humane Society recently hosted a truly unforgettable event—Brass in the Barnyard—and what an afternoon it was!

Guests gathered under the event tent to experience the incredible sounds of the Old Men’s Jazz Band, an 18-piece ensemble that blended the talents of professional musicians with passionate music enthusiasts. Some members have been playing together for over 50 years, and their artistry showed in every note. The music was nothing short of phenomenal, filling the barnyard with vibrant energy and timeless swing.

To make the evening even more special, we had a dance floor set up for guests to try their hand at swing dancing. With the help of a swing dance instructor, first-timers and seasoned dancers alike got to enjoy the rhythm and fun of the night.

But the magic didn’t stop at the music. Guests were also invited to join guided farm tours, where they met our animals and learned more about the important work HAHS does every day to provide care, rehabilitation, and hope for hooved animals in need.

One of the most memorable highlights was the Horse Parade. Our horses were brought up to the event tent so guests could meet them up close while learning about their unique stories. It was a moment that beautifully combined the purpose of our mission with the joy of community celebration.

The overwhelming enthusiasm of our guests has inspired us to dream even bigger—we are already planning a Summer Concert Series right here at the farm. We can’t wait to bring more music, more dancing, and more opportunities to connect with the animals and each other.

Thank you to everyone who attended Brass in the Barnyard for making it such a success. We look forward to seeing you at our next summer event!
